Even when an essay focuses strictly on the mother, the father’s presence, absence, or actions act as an invisible gravity altering the entire orbit. It is rarely just a story about two people; it is a profound look at the whole family ecosystem and how patriarchal ripples dictate what is left unsaid between mothers and children. Perceptive and deeply resonant.

While this collection frames itself around the complex bonds between mothers and children, the true brilliance lies in its systemic depth. I was struck by how powerfully the father-child relationship shapes and bleeds into the maternal dynamic.

From Lynn’s novel we can realize that out there is as many ways to love, as there are people.
Usually we just continue loving the way that feels most familiar, that you were exposed to for your whole childhood.
And as an adult, we might develope our own ways to love our children. Then, you have to sit back and convince yourself, not shame yourself and accept that it’s your way of loving. Fully acceptable💗
