Status Updates From The Dragonfly Sea

I overall did not enjoy this. Writing was too embellished to the point to where it didn’t make sense; sometimes I couldn’t tell who was speaking or what they were even speaking about.
I had no real sense of anyone’s motivations. I like maybe a couple of characters, but honestly this was a chore to finish and truly don’t believe it needed to be almost 500 pages. Probs a 2.5 ⭐️

This book doesn’t need to be just shy of 500 pages

I love purple prose and really flowery language, however there is a balancing act to this and unfortunately I don’t think the author always gets it right. Sometimes I’m reading paragraphs that come across non-sensical. It also feels we’re being put at arm’s length.
Maybe we’re meant to feel as lost as the characters do- not sure.

Not fully invested yet

This is going into the DNF because it's due back, and I'm just not in the right season for it currently. Hopefully someday I can come back to it.
