The counterpower stuff was pretty good but quickly after he lost me with his essentialism arguments about europes imperialist tendencies. Now the state stuff is more interesting again, although i dont know too much about this and therefore have to (carefully) take him at his word that scientists apply statehood retroactively into the past millenias

read the last 10 pages again. I think its really fascinating work hes doing but his grand conclusions are a bit shaky. I think hes doing the classic anarchist thing of ignoring the power and violence of the ruling class when mapping out the possibilities of "imaginary counterpower" but maybe i am misunderstanding the goals of this booklet -- whose style i love btw, ppp is doing awesome stuff
