The author explains that REM sleep is something our brain actively seeks. After getting enough NREM sleep, the brain naturally shifts into REM sleep, almost as if it knows exactly what it needs. I've been emotionally drained by recurring dreams about the painful events that have happened in my life during July. But as REM sleep is required by the brain, this book might give another perspective.
