Chapter 18

Lol it reminds me of how people do peaceful protests in government approved times and places

OMG ALSO THW WAY CATHCART IS RELIGIOUS TOO

Previous quote was pg486***

‘“Won’t you fight fir your country… Won’t you give up your life for Colonel Cathcart and me?”
… “What’s that?… What have you and Colonel Cathcart got to do with my country? You’re not the same.”
“How can you separate us?” Colonel Korn inquired with ironical tranquility.’
Also hin saying before he is intelligent with no morals unlike Yossarian and the way ppl ignore americas military past

OMGOMG I JUST REALISED The chaplain is given a fruit by Cathcart, and then later on that fruit is used by the higher aurhority to condemn him despite being given to him. And he is constantly chided for cimes he never did, though that one instand when everyone was confronting him in the cellar he gets left off and it was all js a test. Oh my GOD

Also the way everyone is dying is so fucking depressing anyone but aarfy and cathcart

- face no consequences and he is right. The way the M.P.s are portrayed feels liks a carucature of the stoic pawn of the state thing this book has going on in both deconstructing it and acknowledhing the conditions that they may be perceived and act as so

— and the final irony in this chapter is aarfys murdering the maid and yossarian instead being arrested for not having the proper pass to be in rome. It was so depressing and i think aarfys attitude is the most cruelest of all these characters, he acted like a mice guy and is all oh i dont buy prostitutes i dont do that to girls but his rape and murder of the girl doesnt faze him— in fact he is so sure he will-

— from misogyny and police brutality and capitalism started off bc he starts his walk as catch22 is revealed fake and Milo the dirty capitalist who is in control of the city changes his attitudes on women to whatever keeps him in yossarians graces (also prior to that hes trying to guilt yossarian to stop resisting) and then bc he dgaf abt girls period for more then sex he instead turns to making profit from tobacco

What a cooling dark and depressing chapter. Sexual biolenved perpetuated by the behaviour and attitudes shown by men the whole book have finally come to its dark climax. In the book a lot of the humour and style is built on irony and meaninglessness. And now as catch22 is confirmed bs and yossarian walks theough the cities of rome witnessing all sorts of tragedies —
