Actually feel sick (not even joking I’ve been nauseous) about these stories and I think that speaks to how over-filtered the education surrounding slavery really is in US schools. And they want to water it down EVEN MORE?! wtf is this world

Things I’ve learned so far:
- Southern women were gifted enslaved people, and trained into being owners.
- Marriage settlements in the south acted as modern day prenups for families/women that owned many enslaved people/property, because if they didn’t they immediately became the husbands property after marriage and could be sold to pay off his debt.

If you need something to take your mind off the malignancy playing the United States right now, read this. White people have always been this way.
