So I thought I would read this book because one it sounds really interesting and two September 11th is coming up. I am excited to see what this book brings.

This political argument for LIHOP has three legs: one, the attacks helped to realize existing US plans; two, the attacks were necessary for these plans; three, the plans required the attacks just st the time they occurred.

US strategists rethink policies. Military spending falls. Hawks start searching for new enemies.

Overworked officials weren’t quite vigilant enough.

Clearly there is a great deal of room here for the incompetence theory: mistakes are made and, as is routine in politics, blame is shifted. 🤓

Intelligence agencies may have to work on the basis that “the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t know.”

Even some mainstream pundits began to wonder whether bin Laden was rooting for a Bush victory. I’ve decided to take this in my backpack and continue reading it when I get to Las Vegas. I wouldn’t want to be interrogated for reading this book at an airport!
