Status Updates From Napoleon and his Marshals

"Rheumatism has been the refuge if the old soldier throughout the ages."

Gosh, this book is like a breath of fresh air! Nobody dares to write like this anymore. Look at this summing-up of Moncey: "He was an honest, slow, prudent, cautious soldier, very reliable and very stupid."

It's poetry!

Macdonell is applying Lord Acton's dictum with maximum panache: "judge talent at its best and character at its worst".

Again I'm using this book as a placeholder for a book that's not on here
