Marx also develops the role of criticism as a twin process to material change, both in motivating and being motivated by material circumstances… perhaps in a sort of… dialectical fashion…

Marx’s assault on idealist thought and how it obscures (and arises from!) real material suffering is explored more in the GI but is digestible here. The famous “opium of the people” quote appears here too. Helps to clarify remarks made in On The Jewish Question.
