So many confusing differences from the first two books! Characters that left at the end of the last book are back but with different personalities and an inexplicable suntan. The ship is no longer run by engineers but by AI. Distances between worlds are so much smaller that the "fact" of them having travelled for hundreds of years make no sense anymore. The women are no longer scientists but just eager wombs. Ugh.
