Can't help but think of Charlie Kirk at this part, especially if this is headed where I think it is.

“As time somehow kept moving, the various sizes of various concerns were starting to seem less relevant.”

Well, that’s the way my mind felt at that moment. Except instead of one too many world-shattering, life-altering unpleasantnesses, there were like five too many to hang on to.”

The detours about the socio-political angle (and assorted thoughts about technology in general and social media specifically) are starting to distract from what I presume to be the main plot.

This first-person narrative is rather shallow but still fun; the character is pretty much the cabbage-head for the exposition so I guess the actual character herself can't be too far off of an even track.

Science mystery- scimystery! Yes, loving it. :-D
