I don’t know why I’m reading this collection in the dog days of late July…I should really bookmark some of these tales for revisiting with the fall of the leaf gazing between page and the crimson sunset in the westerly sky. The suspense is there; but the atmosphere, the setting, must be cultivated!!!! 👻🍂

I’ve slept on Le Fanu for too long…

Read the first (titular) story. It was definitely a good ghostly read. It’s written in dialect. Which made for slower reading than it would have been. But Le Fanu has a way with description I admire. Evocative but succinct.
