This was the meat and potatoes of the book. Having the research on how the wars, gerrymandering, “swing” states, white feminism, and voter oppression affected our elections throughout the century is vital to understanding how change needs to occur. The chapter on Harris’ 2020 campaign was also extremely helpful.

The chapter Georgia Outkasts in itself should be mandatory reading for any poli-sci majors, or really any high school student. This whole book should be, but this chapter really outlines what is going on state-by-state and when we turn a blind eye to what’s happening to BIPOC voters and BIPOC lives.

I enjoyed the memoir aspect with also having several beneficial facts added in. It also makes me wonder how much of funding going to areas of human rights is truly diverse (sidebar based on Ferguson). Thoughts to research.
