I'm almost 40 pages in and I'm so confused. I don't understand the geography, the history/timeline except that there's been a war, and I'm not understanding half the vocabulary being used. I keep waiting to start piecing it together and I'm very much not. I think I need to read this when I have a lot more patience or tolerance for being in that "wtf is happening" state.

The book is good, but the narrator speaks in such a monotone way that I keep losing focus. Too slow for x1 too fast for x1.25. Or maybe it is the writing but I just really want to like this book. It's a really cool concept. 3/5

sooooo fun so far! and narrator from new zealand that’s a first one for me. she’s the perfect voice for Yat. i’ve never read ab this sort of mc before: where she’s both indifferent (not anxious), but also held back. more like a private person than a shy person. i really enjoy this so far! and the world is so refreshing too
