it might be a weird thing to say but im really enjoying Demir's age. he's almost forty, yet the social role he takes on in most interactions is one that is most often held by very young people/barely adults - especially due to the sexual undertones.

Ich habe viel Spass mit der Truppe gehabt. Megan Derr hat meine Bewunderung dafür, dass sie sich nicht festlegt in ihrem Universum.

Die ganze Truppe gefällt mir sehr gut, auch dass die Kronprinzessin eine wichtige starke unterstützende Rolle spielt.

Mein Eindruck ist, dass die Autorin gerne verschiedene Facetten ihres Universums beschreibt.

I finished a book!

I am very proud of myself. Work has been nightmarishly busy, and I feel lucky to have gotten any reading done at all. :D

Okay, see, now things are getting really good. Fantastic, even. I wish this level of suspense had been present from the beginning!

The court intrigue is probably my favorite aspect of this book. The relationships between the nobility and the foreign diplomats are surprisingly complex for an indie novel, and I am really enjoying that dynamic.

However there are lots of tedious descriptions about clothes and other details, and even the sex scenes get dull with repetition.

"The only sexual acts to be ashamed of are those done without consent."

This is interesting. Fantasy story set in a land where everyone seems to be bisexual. They have hetereosexual marriages but keep homosexual harems/enter into homosexual/hetereosexual/bisexual polyamorous relationships with their friends/loyalest servants.

I think this is interesting and different in a good way, but God help me, some parts are just so boring. I do like the idea of this book though.

How had such a sacred practice turned so ugly?
