The battle may be over, but what has Lucien become? What have the once-fledgling Nightwalkers become? And what will now become of Mags, Roisin, and their sunstrider brethren?

Just to stall, DeShawn covered Maeve while Mags was trapped inside. He knew how to play both to be the safety for one and the betrayer of the other.

To have to choose such a fate—sacrifice the one you love, or betray your oath.

Oh wow. Holy damn. From the Mags we know today, to the Magdalene of memory, something truly terrible must have happened to push her to that point, that moment, to bargain with the Venefica and with Ragnar.

Making Mags remember—even though she wanted to—could still cause unknown damage to her psyche. We know that she was spelled—cursed—to forget. What happens when that spell is broken? What happens when her mind in chopped open like a brick of marble waiting to be carved? Will she survive it?

Nightwalker fetuses? Holy hell.

That’s a hell of a spell and security system the Venefica put into place. Fuck.

I find it amusing how the woman at desk hissed the word “Americans”. Though, considering what the Cheeto-in-Chief has done to our once proud country, I can’t say I blame her. DeShawn and his comrades truly didn’t consider the need to look “worn in”. They’ll be spotted by Ragnar in an instant and I did get a good laugh out of the idea of DeShawn trying to arrest Mags. I do hope Roisin’s okay.

To give their dead the honored released of the funeral bier, the flames consuming them. I mourn with them. May their future battles be won. May they prevail triumphant.

They’ve lost so many. Everything Has been rendered broken and damaged. DeShawn is so keen on bringing in the military, and I understand why, but he truly doesn’t understand what he’s up against.

It’s a testament to Emeline’s strength that she’s as put together as she is right now. And she’s right. Mags is useless until she heals. She’s more of a liability than an advantage in her current condition.

Badass Goddesses. I love it. Seamus does have feelings for her in some regard—a comrade he admires, a warrior woman he’s attracted to, an immortal goddess he fancies. I do enjoy it.

By the Dragon, I love your fight scenes. Omg. They are epic!! Mags, kick Ragnar’s ass! Son of a botch killed Adelia.

No! Roisin! Somebody back her up! A sniper! A witch! A Sunguard! Somebody!

Ragnar. Who is he and what does he mean to them? Why does he want Roisin and Mags?

Damn. The remnants have breached the wards entirely. It’s only a matter of time now.

The fairy lights were a great idea. I do love how easily Mags and DeShawn work together. Here’s hoping Maeve can undo the Venefica’s spell.

Oberon’s Tits lmao! That is the best thing I’ve heard in a while. Maeve is a hoot!

Lucien still loves her and she clearly still loves him but their love is so damn dangerous for each other now that he’s a nightwalker. I wonder though, why would Mags ask a nightwalker—Lucien’s master—to come for her? What benefit could it have for her as a sunstrider?

Oooo! An ancient sect of dark witches. Even Roisin’s impressed. I am so damn curious! Damn this book is good.

He let her drink directly from him! And what she gain from his blood, the familiarity, is it possible he’s her kin and he doesn’t know it? Would it even be possible for a sunstrider to give birth as a human would? And if so, was she once pregnant with Lucien’s child? So many questions! So much still to know! Oh, I am loving this!

Often wonder if he could be that close to her in such a manner and see past the dangers of her being a vampire. She’d never hurt any of them intentionally, unless they proved themselves a threat to her.

Seamus’ attention to and care of Mags is sweet, as is Roisin’s protectiveness and, dare I say, possessiveness. The romantic in me wouldn’t mind at all seeing the three of them together, while the practical side of me wonders what Mags thinks of it all. And if she even has or has registered any feelings—lust or otherwise—toward any of them. Though, I do think DeShawn would be a strong fit for her, I 1/2

I adore Roison already and I’m glad Mags has her by her side. And damn does that motorcycle work for them. Or, as Mags calls it, the iron horse.

Omg. Mags!

The suspense is building, something Ian right, and an illusion has been cast upon their road. Mags is itching for a fight, and I don’t blame her one bit.

I truly enjoyed this chapter, the vulnerability we got to see in Aidele, the background we got to learn for Mags, and all that has been hinted to hit is yet to come. I love good foreshadowing.
