Status Updates From Unpredictable (Love in LA, #3)

I really liked this book. Maybe because it was an older couple than what I usually read. But it felt really mature im their actions and behavior and how they treated each other, especially Harrison. When he wanted her to stay, he still fought for her but at the same time didn’t hold her back and wanted her to be happy even if it wasn’t with him. It worked out in the end. Happily. :) Prob would read again too.

“You are my breath, my heart, my reason for living. I promise to never take you for granted. I promise to do my utmost to uphold the vows we’ve recited. And I promise that even though life may be unpredictable, you can always count on my love. I will love you without end, without cease, without fail.”
I believed her.

“You trusted me. You trusted me enough to let go of your cares and concerns. I hope you know that I’ll always be here for you. I’ll always love and cherish you. And I will always put you first.”
She nodded, her eyes glittering with tears.
“Whatever challenges life throws our way, I will always be here—waiting for you.” I swiped away a tear, so tempted to say “Fuck it” and kiss her already.

When she joined me beneath the floral arch, I took her hands in mine. She smiled up at me with those beguiling blue eyes, her love endless like the ocean.
“Beautiful.” I rubbed a hand over my chin, completely mesmerized. “Absolutely beautiful.”

Juliana emerged from within, and I knew it was a moment I’d never forget. Landon’s description had been spot-on. Juliana was radiant and a knockout, but she was so much more besides. She was filled with joy, and her happiness spilled over to me.
Fuck, she was gorgeous. And she was mine.

“I thought you didn’t want to get married.”
“I didn’t think I did.” He peered up at me. “But then you came along with your captivating blue eyes and a smile that could knock me flat.”
I smiled, and he pointed up at me. “That’s the one. And you changed me.”

“I love you,” I whispered, feathering my lips over his skin. “I love you. And I’m so very grateful for you.”
He held me to him, both of us still a moment—as close as any two people could be. I could feel his heart beating against mine, in sync.
“I love you.” The words rumbled from his chest, and they resonated deep in my soul. “And I’m so glad you’re mine.”

He’d given me the space to be who I needed to be and do what I needed to do. And that was one of the greatest gifts you could give to someone you loved—the freedom to make their own decisions, their own mistakes, without guilt or judgment.

And Harrison was the man I was meant to be with. He was compassionate and understanding, and he’d let me go even when he wanted me to stay. While some might have seen that as giving up, I viewed it as a true testament to just how selfless he was. And though he might not have been happy about my decision to go to Thailand, he’d respected it, nevertheless.

“My heart’s a little sore. It’s been missing you.” I held out my hand, reaching for her. She took it, and my body relaxed at her touch.
She perched on the edge of the bed next to me. “I’m sorry, Harrison. So, so sorry.”
“Did you get the answers you wanted?” I asked, afraid to come right out and ask if she’d seen Ryan.
“It gave me the closure I needed.”

“But when is enough enough? If it’s not him, when will she stop looking and commit to me?”
“That’s a question only she can answer. But I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive. She can hold out hope that he’s alive but still want to be with you.”
“I can’t lose her.” I swallowed, knowing how hard the past week had been. I didn’t want to be apart anymore or ever again. “I can’t.”

“If you ask me—”
“Which I didn’t,” I interjected.
He continued speaking all the same. “She just wants closure. Wouldn’t you, were roles reversed?”
My shoulders slumped. “Yeah.”
“I mean, doesn’t it say a lot about her that she’s still dedicated to finding him after all this time?”
I hadn’t thought about it that way.

“She flew across the world to be with her former fiancé.”
“Did she say why?” He paused, as if waiting for me to connect some piece I was missing. “Did she say it was because she wanted to be with him? Or that she was still in love with him? Or that she wanted to marry him?”
“No, but—”
“Exactly.” He clapped his hands together, and it seemed to echo off the tile floor of the room.

I laughed, enjoying one last look at the ocean. The water had taken a lot, but it had given so much too. My heart was full despite all that had happened, and I knew with absolute certainty that Harrison was my future. And I vowed to never let him doubt that again.

“A part of me will always love Ryan, but Harrison is it for me.”
She nodded. “I know he is. I can see it when you talk about him or when the two of you are together. He’s… Well, we all loved Ryan. But Harrison is the type of man I always envisioned you with.”
“Really?” I asked, stunned by her admission.“Yes. And I’m kind of shocked he didn’t demand to come.”

“I know. But you were happy. You and Harrison were happy.”
I nodded. “We were, weren’t we?” A soft smile played at my lips. “But it was my decision to come. You gave me the information, but I’m the one who acted on it. And I’ve made another decision—I don’t want to meet the man your contact believes is Ryan.”
She gaped at me. “You don’t?”
