Status Updates From Sanditon and Other Stories

The Watsons – I loved this snippet. It was so recognizable as Austen and so lovely that I forgot it would be so short. I wish we had a finished version of this story. I would have loved to see what happened with Osborne and Howard, especially knowing what Austen may have intended for them. I think Emma is a very interesting character, and the nature of her return gives so much depth to the story in such a short time.

Lady Susan – (spoilers) As an epistolary story, it took me a few letters to settle in and learn all the relevant names. I enjoyed reading this first story in the collection and thought it was interestingly formed. I thought it was a bit black and white with regard to Lady Susan's character. I also didn't like the match for her daughter with a man so easily swayed, but at least he's rich, and she likes him.
