I hate this book. Drama, drama, drama. And the characters are wooden, as is their dialogue. This doesn't read like a professional writer wrote this story; more like some Wattpad (or whatever was the 2004 equivalent) drivel. (No shade to Wattpad)
Also, I'm listening to the audiobook, &the narrator sucks. Infuse the characters with personality, please. But I guess that's a tall order with a book so poorly put together.

Jesus fuck; the drama in this is too much. Abuse backstory? Pick one dramatic thing and run with it; there are too many to keep count of now.

Not really vibing w/ it but I learned that it was Lynn Ames' debut novel &boy does that explain a lot. It reads like a debut--a poor debut. The dialogue is choppy, the characters are vague half-ideas, the drama is turned up to 11. (70 pages in &we have a hit and run, a bombing AND a sexual assault.) But since lesfic was a little refined way back in 2004, I'll give this book a pass. For now.
