Reading for class, its super interesting so far! :)

“To see ourselves in others is terrifying because it suggests we must be kind, always.”

“I smile and nod. I am gracious. But I do not feel empowered or empowering. I am resentful.” - Having an attractive body isn’t a virtue. Constantly praising someone for their looks can be just as damaging as shaming them. It’s baffling yet unsurprising how many people throughout her life “compliment” her on how thin she is. Essentially they say: keep up the unhealthy lifestyle because you look so pretty.

“Drug addicts lie to other people because they will try to stop us from doing what we want, which is to self-destruct in a manner that causes massive amounts of collateral damage. To be cared for is often to be tied to, and so we tear the links that bind us to others.”

I think this is going to be a five star read.
