Continuing my thought. Now I read it and I am IMMERSED. I mean it is EVERY SENTENCE. I’m like THIS IS EXACTLY HOWI FEEL ALL THE TIME. Every single word demands you attention and thought, not in a straining or tedious way but in a way where I literally cannot put the book down until Shaw finishes his thought. Like yes I need to know where to find the secret pond. Yes I am trying to find my brother serpent.

Read this book maybe 5 years ago and now I really understand what it means when someone as a person is not ready to read a book. I liked it before, I thought it was interesting, but I couldn’t relate to the things it was saying. Which is interesting in itself because maybe something in me knew I had to buy it - I SEARCHED for this book - but I didn’t understand it when I read it. What made me look for it??

“Insert some poignancy to a life deprived of useful hardships. Not ever knowing appropriate sacrifice is not a victory, it is a sedative. When we prematurely claim doom, we walk out of the movie 15 minutes early and we posit dominion over the miraculous. We could weave our grief to something more powerful than that: possibility.”
