Understanding not to go overboard is known as Rambo. Definitely what I was wondering about, Section 2: Leadership Skills. Don't take things personally was a good one. Being an easy button leader isn't always a good thing—something I find myself doing, which was nice to understand. I don't judge reputations; I understand it was a nice section.

Once entering part two, leadership tactics, this really stood out to me in my current status. I will need to study this section and apply these tactics to the best of my ability. Section one, "Becoming a Leader," is what I'm looking for. It gives a list of how to succeed as a new leader and more.

Ownership and how to deal with false blame and blame. Doing hard tasks with teams helps build relationships and shows true leadership. Lead from the front. Don't overreact. How not to care. People are the same but different at the same time. Old strategies that may have worked in the past may not work in the current situation.

I'm burned out today 🫩Telling the truth can fix things and keep trust. As a leader, always study, learn, do some of the work, ask for help, question, build experience, and build relationships. Earning respect and influence. Building trust down and up the coc.

Being loud. Using the team for ur weakness for the best. Leadership vs manipulation. Born leader or not, how do they differ and improve? Subordinate your ego. Leaders must tell the truth. To help make hard truths less painful, it's best to maintain a consistent communication base with people, and to be honest with them about what you talk about. Telling the truth earlier can help fix things rather than break things

When Jocko watched a SEAL team perform during its exercise, he saw problems that boiled down to leadership. Jocko created the laws of combat leadership :

Relationships up and down all around make you an effective leader. Explain how ego and questions can effect relationships

Seal Team 1 PLTCO was an 03 from the fleet no seal experience at all. The CPO and LPO of the PLT had experience and the OIC ignored and only moved with ego of “himself” no one like him and ended up fighting the LPO. After talking to the Team 1 CO that 03 was relieved of duty. DC, Delta Charley took over had done everything in seals. Team saw the difference and like his leadership. Humble and smart.

Jocko wasn’t shit as a child-adult. He realized he wasn’t the same as “normal” folks and learned their ways. Jocko father didn’t think the military was for him. Jocko found hell week easy since it wasn’t a timed evolution and didn’t think about quitting at all. This book is basically a manual for leaders, not a book IG, makes sense. Jocko gave a command as a new JT on oil rig ended up being good.

Quick read before bed. Basically tells with short explanation of leaders during war and after also how seals went trained at all besides having OJT. Some actually teach some do so poorly. J received training from Vietnam vet and teaches to new JTs.. about it.
