Oh for Pete’s sake!! When will modern authors learn to use the word ‘enormity’ correctly? It means ‘outrage’ or ‘offence’, and not ‘great size’. The word you want is ‘magnitude’. Secondly, please pay attention to subject/object. Jane Austen would never have written ‘He spoke to Mr Darcy and I’ - she’d have known the correct form would be ‘…to Mr Darcy and me’.

Pretty goob
Just watched the 90s Film of Persuasion and ugh I just love Jane Austen's characters, need to find out if there's more (well-written) spinoff material like this book.

I always think when reading these, that I'd love to live a life where I have like zero responsibilities. Where, because I'd belong to 18th century aristocracy, I could just do shit, like go visit my family in the country for weeks and sit around in the outdoors and take morning walks and sit by cafes or have a picnic whenever I chose... and then I remember, I'm an arts student - this is pretty much my life.

I'm actually really loving this for a modern book, and the writing style is really rather beautiful. This is from a passage describing the melody of a piano played:
The principal melodic line soon exploded into a blizzard of notes, but she could hear the tune emanating from within the rapidly circling embellishments, still gentle, still yearning, even as the brighter, swifter notes clamoured around them.
