Deep into this now! Perhaps it was a little slow to start, but that's because it's not only a murder mystery - it's also an immersion into lives lived so long ago... I love the main characters, and they're all so well delineated, connected to each other but each very different. It's terrific to spend time with these people, who are universally human but also very specifically of their own time and place.
