I'm going to throw something out there. But I'm not convinced that Dunnett thinks about her readers at all. She's having waybtoo much fun, writing to and for herself. Amd you can either meet here there or not. She won't notice either way.

My gods!!! Let me record the date: 20.02.2026. It is 17.27 in the afternoon. Something unprecedented has happened. I am actually enjoying reading a book by Dorothy Dunnett!!!! Its happened. Finally. On my second attempt amd getting as far as book three!!!
This is, undoubtedly, a better book that KG and QP. Dunnett is less smug and fulsome, more disciplined amd professional as a writer, and it really works.........
