ok he's not actively as much of an asshole as in the first half but i'm still just kinda baffled as to what i'm missing / why there's so many 5 star reviews?? like ok i get it, from the constant never-ending insight into David's thoughts he has a lot going on but the writing isn't making me warm to or feel empathy for him in any way

started this last night and lemme tell u it is only out of complete stubbornness & spite that i will be finishing it bcos one of the main characters is such an asshole that i can’t figure out why anyone would be genuinely invested in this couple

this is only 170 pages but it took me forever to read it. and I still don’t know why Jake liked David, what an insufferable main character
