I started reading Conflicts in the Middle East Since 1945 on March 27, 2025, and I’m currently on page 11. As a political scientist specializing in Middle Eastern studies, I’m reading this book to deepen my understanding of the region’s complex and turbulent geopolitical landscape. The book offers a structured narrative of major regional conflicts, including those involving Persian Gulf struggles.

So far, what is most striking about the book is (1) the authors chose 1945 as the starting point , (2) disentangling the Palestine-Israeli conflict from the wider Arab-Israeli conflict; authors called it the chicken and egg problem.
