So far this book is basically just a collection of things I like in books.

I wonder why she changed the names of Jack the Ripper's victims? Are we meant to assume that this is some sort of alternate history? Makes sense, as this is a world where literary characters (Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, Holmes & Watson, Victor Frankenstein, etc.) are real people.

my dearest friend taj sent me an annotated & decorated copy of this book an embarrassingly long time ago (over two? years? ago?) and i am finally getting around to reading this! most likely my last read of 2025 🤍
