Status Updates From What Is Existentialism?

Interesting book though as a newbie to existentialism probably not the best read. It took me 3 reads for me really to get a grasp of its content. I have read in other reviews since that it isn't the best for people new to existentialism so I will likely revisit when I have read some more and see how my opinion changes.

"A man finds his place on earth only by becoming a given object for other men." Wow that is crazy. What in the reifiication. Wow.

"He is himself not enough for himself since he is always infinitely more than he would be if he were only that."

Wow. Damn. She's out here throwing bombs of truth and it's really quite incredible because how is she doing this. "And what's next?" is the question that I hear asked of so many people. Is this perpetual movement/looking beyond what is already there the sheer essence of what keeps us moving?

Since there will always be civilization, it may be useless to defend Athens. But then one must give up ever regretting anything or rejoicing for anything.

To act for a goal is always to choose, to define.

If the singular form of his effort appears to man as indifferent, his transcendence vanishes by losing all shape. He can no longer want anything since the universe is without lack
