Status Updates From The Berserker Brides Saga

The kink in the third story was not to my taste. Dressing her like a child, giving her enemas, and talking about how Thorbjorn wanted to baby her because he had lost a child… that’s just too creepy for me. Which is a shame, because the characters finally had consistency.

Okay I could have done without a detailed enema scene…

I wish the author was better with characterization. The mythology is good, the action-adventure parts are entertaining, The sex is steamy, but the characters don’t have any consistency. They run hot and cold, not based on personality, but just to create conflict.

If every single story is just the female character saying/thinking she is dirty and broken because of the “heat” and male characters badly communicating about how the mating thing works, this is going to get old fast. Women are told our sexual desire is bad, we don’t just all believe it and cling to that idea like the last lifeboat on the Titanic.

The first story was great. Plenty of action and danger, good sex scenes, an enjoyable relationship. Hazel was a little annoying at times because her thoughts and motives weren’t revealed the way Knut’s were. However, when their relationship reached a crisis, she was revealed to be a good character. I hope the longer books will go more into the sexual dynamics.

Not really my cup of tea. I've stopped reading it.
