It’s been so long since I read Rainbow Valley and I forgot how precious these stories are! Def much more about the children than Anne but delightful nonetheless.

I have a theory that the first two books were written because the author wanted to, and written more or less how she wanted to. The later ones are bewildering in comparison in their boring recounting of events and the advocacy of womanly virtues. As if they were written by the request of a publishing house, as easily publicly acceptable uplifting moral stories that pay the bills. I should probably read a biography.

I am currently simply too tired to read much else. But I cannot NOT read, either.

Anne of Ingleside is precious—I’d forgotten how endearing these little vignettes are!
Definitely not as cohesive of a story as the earlier books but delightful nonetheless :)

I've obviously read this before, many times, but never the complete series in the original language.
