Ok, so we are on our first thoughts. I forgot how dark this series was. Already we are reminded of how the king mass murdered his wife and all the kingdom's slaves. Now he wants all families with children under 20 years old to give up one of them for slaves. Unless they can pay the fine of course. Basically makes it so the rich can still turn a blind eye while the rest of the kingdom's families lose a child. UGH!
