I think Kathrine and Elena are reveresed compared to the series because Kathrine seems so far really good (from what the reader can see in Stephans memory fragments). And Bonnie having an older sister who works in the medical field BADDIE!! I really don't enjoy Elena's perspective. but we have 11 chapters left before finishing off book 1

I'm still trying to adjust to this plot line but firstly the blood oath made me very sick. Meradith's pin isn't sterolized, there rubbing each others bloody thumbs together, then after Bonnie sucks her thumb like ew sorry. As much as I love my best friends I draw the line at blood sharing. Secondly Caroline and Elena I cant get over the rivalry.

Oh bruh.... Elena dumping Matt. okay but is it soley based off you're lack of romantic connections/feelings towards him or your lust for Stephan?? The series did a good job explaining Matt and Elena breaking up due to her parents death and her needing to grieve before bumping into Stephan, but with this book I'm curious as to what and why?

NOOOO NOT ELENA BEING WITH MATT BUT OGGLING AT STEPHAN! AND STOP WITH THE NOBLESS OBLIGE CRAP MERADITH WHOEVER YOU ARE!!! AHHH I CANT I CANT CONDONE BEING WITH SOMEONE AND OGGLING AT STEPHAN!

Also Elena being "Queen of the high school," and her behavior is just a big no no! I CAN'T LOOK! But I must go on.

I need to remind myself this book had to walk before the series could run.

Wait wait wait... Did white Porcaline skin (blond Elena who never tans) just comment on being as translucent and see through as Bonnie a black character??? Oh hell nah.

Also WHO TF is Meredith??? like yuh Elenas bestie in this timeline but I was thinking like series Meradith fell doctor and Alarics ex partner. And Jenna isn't Jenna okay okay I need to keep an open mind.

Started the awakening (first book in the series). I'm literally almost done rewatching the series, and its my first time reading this book and there are several changes. 1) setting fells church virginia, instead of mystic falls.
2) Physicality of Elena Gilbert and changes to her dynamic
There are also I predict similarities (crow=Damon???) but watches over Stephan and Elena.
