This is one of the first novels I’ve read that really focuses on racism, especially in the South in the 1950s. It was not an “easy” read in regard to the content, but the characters were very well developed and their adventures were a pleasure to read. The ending definitely hit hard and caused a few (a lot) of tears, but I’m definitely glad I read this book.
