Figured I’d quit after that chapter, perfect timing since all the competitions are done, and Celeste is now the ringleader! They’re cooked!

God Celeste if you had been better written and in a better book you could’ve slayed so hard. Please keeping slaying.

I’m actually so close to DNF’ing this shit actually. Like first it was silly goofy, but now I’m just frustrated.

Like, to be honest, Rora is KINDA in the right for not wanting to cheat on the competition, even if it would make that one person she doesn’t like lose. There’s clear consequences that would follow that she doesn’t want.

Although about her using Gwen to get the new hand, even if it was wrong on Gwen’s end I can see why she did it! But the book is stating that Rora is also falling for Gwen and ughhhhh- 🤕

PLEASE, GWEN, RORA- TALK TO EACH OTHER AND COMMUNICATE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY!

The fighting feels like two middle schoolers screaming at each other and having temper tantrums to be honest, but maybe that’s just how I feel.

If in another better written and very sapphic romance book, the forehead kiss scene but would’ve actually been kinda cute though? 🥺

And sad-ish, because near-death and all that, but still!

So of COURSE the Forgetting isn’t accidental and likely has something to do with Celeste!

I knew that was probably gonna happen giving they wanna have Celeste commit every crime against humanity against Cyborgs but like, c’mon! I kinda feel like the Forgetting should’ve been some sort of actual side-effect! It’s a fun idea to mess with and it’s been wasted here!

Maybe that’s just me. Who knows.

Even if I enjoy reading romance between women, I still don’t read those scenes at all. Sorry.

Call me a coward if you like, but I genuinely don’t like reading those scenes and they make me feel claustrophobic and uncomfortable.

Even though the pacing has truly messed them up so badly, Gwen and Rora have so much potential to be a super cute couple. :(

Well one thing’s for sure, she sure as hell hates Celeste, and Celeste herself is definitely the story’s villain.

WAS Gwen excited about the career change and learning how to work on Cyborg implants..?

She must’ve hired an inexperienced surgeon alongside the lottery and the competition SOLEY to maximize misery.

Ok back to nitpicking. Gwen and Rora have only known each other for like almost a hundred pages and they’ve already tried to kiss followed by a misunderstanding. What?

Also why DID they hire an inexperienced surgeon in the first place if they knew this competition was going on? To maximize misery? What???

No matter how bad a book is at the moment, put on the right music for a scene and the pictures in your head are awesome as heck. By that I mean the local sapphic dance scene (the one with the guy was boring as shit)
I actually had fun with that one, and it’s interesting that we got to know the backgrounds of Gwen and Rora! I can’t wait to hopefully see you guys develop proper crushes on each other and then kiss.

The pacing is still not the greatest when it comes to developing relationships, but I do appreciate the bits of Gwen and Rora interacting, preparing for the ball, and having fun together.

I do have quite a love for sapphic interactions and all that! Women are awesome!! :]

I don’t usually nitpick writing a bunch, but-

One moment they say she lost her vision during the operation, one moment they say on the way there, and another moment they say it was before all of that.

So when EXACTLY did Gwen lose the vision in her eye? 🧐

Ugh, I think that the pacing of Gwen’s transformation into a cyborg really wasn’t well done. It kinda makes the terminal illness feel like a PLOT DEVICE- kinda makes me feel a bit grossed out. It would’ve been better to focus on it a bit longer and show how much misery she’s in to make the decision she made; losing everything she’s ever known and built up for herself- just to stay alive and breathing.
