The ending was so miserable that everyone was in a tragic position. As I read this book, I started to think again more of "what if..." because "The Mothers" taught me that from trivial details to big decisions could alter our future, and sometimes we regret what we did. I learned that we should be more responsible with our decisions and the importance of maintaining our relationships.

The ending really stayed with me. All the secrets that held the characters together finally come out, causing everything to fall apart, especially the church community that once felt so important. It shows how Nadia and Aubrey grow up, even though it’s painful. I liked how the ending wasn’t perfectly happy, and not everything works out perfectly. It made me think about how secrets can shape people’s lives for years.

Last part of the book, Brit Bennett shows that our life choices whether it's small or big never leave us. I think that her purpose is to show how deep secrets and what if stay near people for long time. As Nadia and Luke deal with their past author tell us that the Mothers of the church represent the past of the town. She wants us to see that while we get older and move away, the past me keep find way to stay close.
