Status Updates From Red Storm Rising

I read this book when I was a kid... 14 or 15. I haven't read it since, which is to say it's been a long time. I wish I had the F. Murray Abraham version, just because, but the book still pulls you in. Clancy in the 80s was a different beast than he became. Engineers and analysts are the heroes, as much or more as the soldiers. Still very rah rah rah, but immersive.

Tom Clancy is the master of this kind of thing, just no denying it. Larry Bond as well of course. It’s entertaining and easy to follow despite the massive scope of it all, but it is a beast of a book, the kind where you read for a big chunk of time and only knock like 30 pages lol. Takes its time setting the whole thing up, an it’s a great read.
