Status Updates From Fantastic Creatures of the ...

The first 2/3 of this were mostly critters. Now we're getting into some of the gods who are human or mostly humanoid. I want more critters!

HUAJIAO MY BELOVED CHENGHUANG
Had no idea he was a chenghuang, though it was probably in there somewhere.

I'm wondering if Xingtian was at all an inspiration for the centaur guy who appears randomly in the Owl House. It could also just be a random weird choice.

Jimeng is the cover art dragon.

The foxes so far:
Jiuwei Hu - classic nine tailed fox, but white like an arctic fox
Zhunuo - fox with some scales like a fish and fins that look like wings
Between the two, I think my favorite is Zhunuo. It's unusual and different from the common nine tailed fox myths.

I think that fish thing must have been a stingray someone saw. If it's not real, that is. Who knows?

A picture book for adults. I have so far only found one creature that was taken by You Shou Yan for Fabulous Beasts. I know he took a whole bunch, but since this is basically an abridged version of the original, some of the ones he took might have been amongst the ones that were left out of this book. I wish there was an edition with 1. a good translation 2. pictures 3. all the creatures. Sadly, we got one of each :(

Bonus points if she became a kitsune and is now struggling with the urge to eat human flesh.

Myth of the Day:

If you see a white nine tailed fox, you will become royal. Disney princess movies get on this one! I want to see a movie where some girl from Hong Kong goes on a trip to the mountains and spots a white fox randomly, and suddenly she returns home to find out she was secretly descended from Chinese royal blood, and is now a princess.
