So much hockey. Lowkey don’t fully grasp what’s going on? At one point, it’s this like pivotal game they win but I need it spelled out for me so I had to read it twice because I do not have the knowledge and context to understand they won. BUT it’s well written and an easy read. I’m enjoying it even though I’m not a hockey gal.

Like Tuesdays with Morrie, I see why it is done in schools: just over 200 pages, short episodic chapters that lean into the overarching story, relatively easy read with a few larger vocabulary words. Although, I will say this one has more difficult language, and it does come up more frequently, but still rather approachable for Grades 11/12. Good so far. Getting into hockey, which isn’t for me, but whatever.

It started out interesting but sad. At this point hockey is the save. It has my attention.
