Classic old testament bit where God asks Abraham to kill his only son. Well technically, he has another son Ishmael but he gets banished with his mother. Pretty confused about the dynamics and even why circumcision is so important to be written down...

Finally getting around to reading this book, the husband and I are reading a bit every Sunday so it'll likely be years til we're finished. I know for a fact that J.R.R Tolkien read the Bible , at least the beginning, because the extensive focus on family lineage is tedious. Also the old testament God -- wack! Not a fan but I'm happy he has a glow up later on, maybe his Son matures him in a way. ( Genesis 19:4 WILD)
