Valerian has really been gaslighting Margaret their whole marriage…

Jadine is still my sister I realllyyyyy love reading about her and what seems to be a nuanced take on “white washed” black girls? I really hope to hear more about her upbringing and see the dynamic between her and Michael. The concept of being raised by your family’s employer and being a sort of part time child/friend is so interesting

“With white people the rules were even simpler. She needed only to be stunning, and to convince them she was not as smart as they were. Say the obvious, ask stupid questions, laugh with abandon, look interested, and light up at any display of their humanity if they showed it”
