Almost every main character has given me The Ick and I can't finish this mess.

Despite moving slow it does pick up pace eventually. The characters are horrible in the most human way, forcing you to acknowledge your own human flaws as you read. You’ll hate most of them one moment, and the next, you’ll read a page that explains why they became that way so well that you can’t help but to feel sorry for them.
