Want the idol killed bc like on pg. 109, “I cannot kill it against your will. It is impossible. Have I your permission.” Like again. God’s not gonna force us to choose Him. He wants us to bc He knows ultimately what is good for us and what will save us and loves us 20,000,000x more than we ever could or even comprehend (eph. 3:18-19). BUT ITS OUR CHOOSE! and He loves us soo much that we’re given more than ->

Like nobody’s business. Like the obvi ones like “everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him” but on the same pg 106, it says, “It’s not out of bad mice or bad fleas you make demons, but out of bad archangels.” LIKE OH MY GOSH YES! I’m literally a breathing testimony with my own friendship idolization that this is THE. TRUTH. And the bargaining and God asking if we ->

Wowwwww. Dude this book is so good. And it’s literally only 146 pages, like what. Ch. 11 is hard to explain any other way than what happened to me Aug 2025. Like it’s about love becoming a possession or idol instead of love and if you’re willing to let God kill it even tho it’ll be a painful process of sanctification through surrender so real God transformation can happen. this is my first time reading this novel and wow. just wow. in the way i’d characterize orwell as a force of nature, born especially for generations that came after (re: the cultural and brilliant significance that is 1984), i’d say lewis emulates the same. even the preface was poignant. his writing style is effortlessly impactful as it is chilling as it is soul-stirring. chapter 5 will stay with me forever.

Even if a choice to choose God or Hell ( separation from God) bc without the choice, it’s just control. And control is not loving and all God knows how to be is loving. WOW. dude chapter 9 wow wow wow!!!

Complaining or appearance can turn into idols or a path of destruction if we don’t repeat of it. Or even the pleasures God gives us on earth like sports or arts, if we forget why we do them ( which is to glorify God and bring glory to Him) snd just do them just to do them or to get the credit when it’s all said and done ( a means to an end). And then it talks about all who go to Hell go by choice and why there->

And idk I can’t even explain it I just have to go back and look at my highlights. It’s just basically how literally anything can be turned into an idol or sinful or just in a path of death and destruction even if there were no bad intentions bc we are sinful beings by default and need to DAILY give up our crosses and repeat and try to live a life that it pointing towards God. Wow. Chapter 9 is so so good. I was annotating so much you’d think it was a school book I was having a test on. Like I won’t lie, I’m using chat also to explain the book bc it’s pretty confusing on its own. But ch 9 is just so yes.
