Status Updates From Near the Bone

I need to never listen to books with narrators who do a good job voicing characters who whine or cry or snivel. It matters me hate the narrator and the character both if I'm in even a slightly iffy mood. The writing is okay though so I'll try to keep going. (I just work I could luck out and find a random book to listen to with GOOD writing--or , dare I say, even great? But alas, it's not to be.)
