Okay. Obviously, you shouldn't go on a trip with your grandmother to Alaska as a minor, specifically when there are concerns about your grandmother's mental and physical health. However, I feel like this is a very obvious point and there is a very clear reason why this choice was made (resolving two stories at the same time).

This is beautiful and very compellingly written. Iris's frustrations and sorrow and hope grip my heart. And it makes me happy that so much care was put into this from the author and others in the deaf experience.

"Let's go."
"Me? Go where?"
"I just chugged the last of the milk and then told Mom I'd go out to pick up more."
I jumped up and slid into my shoes. Milk wasn't the only thing we'd be picking up.” I think that is amazing

How do I all ready relate to this character so much I’m not deaf but I also think Nina is the most annoying person ever and I do love sign language!
