Finally got to some juicy bits where Marx’s point of departure from Hegel is evident. Finally seeing some early early analysis of key pillars of marxism: what Marx would later describe as alienation and proletariat.

So apparently the Introduction is not part of the original body of work. It seems Marx planned to write two separate critiques of Hegel but never finished the second. The original body, Critique of Hegel’s Doctrine of the State, was in 1843 and feels very ‘un-Marxian’, in the sense that Marx seems to attack Hegel from a position of internal contradictions rather than espousing a clearly materialist Marxist view

This is very painful so far. I’ve read half of a 30 page essay in preparation for this but it’s still a mountainous task. Marx never finished this text and it shows.
