What I like about Leithart is how he is able to demonstrate that reading OT's historical accounts can have deeper meaning beyond historical criticism: that is the typological reading of the types of Christ in history preceding Him, and also how we can participate in the life, death and resurrection of Christ, and by consequence also participates in the fulfillment of those types in our own life.
