Finished "Sword": Gotta say, the scene clearly modeled on Matthew 4:8–9, where the Autarch within his own effigy shows Severian the world and tries to make a pact, is as stimulating as the "eschatology and genesis" play in the previous volume. Despite suffering through things like "sword fights," there's a lot of intriguing material. I read this 240-page portion (book 3) almost nonstop during the stormy weekend.
