Especially how the fall of Constantinople changed everything and indirectly started a chain of events that lead the extremeño Hernan Cortez who had a devotion to our lady of Guadalupe to go to the new world. I think the writer does a little bit of interpretation. He seems to be very fond of syncretism.

I really enjoy the author narrating the audiobook. He’s a very good reader and story teller. I think the way the story is narrated is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed chapter 5 where he focuses on how much quickly politicians turned on hating Hernan Cortez ( who had been dead for 250+years) and tried to burn his remains, About his love for the new world, the good and the bad, his rivalry with Charles V and death
