Status Updates From Scholomance 2: The Devil's ...

I’m holding out hope that there is some character development/growth. The MC is harsh and piggish at times. Everything seems to happen fast and there really isn’t a lot of in depth actual story.

This series honestly feels way lazier than The OP MC, which is the only other thing I've read from this author. The plot is rushed as fuck, and barely anything about it is original in the first place.

The villain of the book is a pale white man with snakelike features and red eyes... That's literally a carbon copy of Voldemort. Fucking christ. But, to be fair, he was only it in for like 10 pages before he died, so he wasn't much of a factor.

'Who cares, the point is we did it,' says Cole, and apparently we're supposed to think the same thing, because fuck ever getting any kind of answers for anything.
Why did they combine two unrelated classes, you ask? Well, because the book is nearing the word count target, and the author wants to wrap this shit up. Oh, you want a real answer? Uhh... look over there!

The professor happening to be right outside his door ready to knock when he opens it was mildly amusing the first couple of times, but it's happened like over 10 times now. It's getting dumb.
Don't usually comment on the sex scenes because they're mostly just fine, but that was an uncommonly good one. Maybe because it was a breath of fresh air to have one of the girls not acting like a childish jerk for once.

They learn that the killing curse takes a part of your soul. Literally copying Harry Potter even harder now.
This war against other schools sounds like a plot that could last multiple novels, but with how quickly they're blowing through this shit, I guess it's just going to be for this one. I guess pacing is hard when you don't actually plan this stuff out in advance.

Skipped over a few days narratively, and we get descriptions of the witches' aptitudes as if they've been training for months. This guy has no concept of pacing.
For all the talk of how brutal and ruthless the school is, we sure haven't seen many examples of it; mostly threats. We've now seen 2 die due to class-related things.
It is super shameless how much Morgana is just Hermione now. Almost a straight copy.

I see the author has decided to make Morgana into the Hermione (studious know-it-all) of this series, further cementing its Harry Potter rip-off status. She wasn't even remotely like that in the first book of this.

Last book promised some answers, so of course this book starts off with a random and unprecedented attack that then causes the headmistress to be like nah not going to give you answers. The author probably hasn't even come up with any answers to actually give yet.
So the girls are going to continue to be bitchy. Great. Wouldn't want any character development!

Back to this shit quicker than I thought, but I'm in a mood and wanted variety. Maybe I'll try to complain less this time. Maybe. (Definitely not.)
